I started getting involved in Mystery Shopping in July 2003, and I just love it! There are many Mystery Shoppers all over the country enjoying the same perks as I am. Now Mystery Shopping is not for everyone. But, it is a lot of fun. It is work too! For those that don't know what is involved, when you receive an assignment you are required to go to a store, restaurant, bank, apartment, etc ... (there are all types of shops!), and basically you evaluate and fully document your experience as per the instructions, which will vary from assignment to assignment.. Now, the Mystery Shop companies giving these assignments have specific criteria you are required to look for. So you always read the instructions and review the report prior to going on your shop. But you get paid a small fee and sometimes get reimbursed for your expenses. That is Mystery Shopping in a nutshell. Sounds like fun? It is! |

It is essential to stay organized and keep excellent records. You are an independent contractor. I noticed that despite the vast numbers of Mystery Shoppers, there is no software designed for this business. I needed a complete "system" to record everything relevant to my business. I even tried Peachtree and QuickBooks. They were a bit too much, and still didn't serve all my needs. I wanted things to be easy, and automated. I did not want to have to duplicate my data entry efforts. So I used an abundance of formulas and formatting within all worksheets of this workbook to automate it and make it much easier for the user, which was me when I designed it. |

By trade I am an Excel Analyst / Reports Manager, so I felt the best thing for me to do, was to create my own system. That is exactly what I did! I created one Microsoft Excel workbook that allows me to track everything! This is not software. This is a spreadsheet created in Microsoft Excel. You can open and use this spreadsheet in any version of Excel. |

Bottom line is, find a system that works for you. Use Excel, use Word, use Access, use a notebook and a pen. Whatever it is, if it works for you, then use it! |
